My mother, Ann Staples Kennedy, died on April 16th of 2009. I'm just creating this container to hold all the things that her life and death have inspired in me and will continue to inspire in me.

I suppose this ought to probably be inside "Mom" but as a try to "break out" of mourning mode, I'm intentionally (perhaps falsely?) placing it separately here. In the end, it's definitely far more intense and relevant for me because of how I've changed after Mom's death though.

to me the best definition is "a system with rules" -- this is by no means standard but I like it the most because of the fact that it totally captures the "gaming the system" sense (from colloquial English)
