another 3-4 inches of snow fell during the day yesterday, gradually changing over to all rain and leaving the top surface of the snow quite brittle (hence the "crunch") Because of the weight of the waterlogged snow (and my uncertainty about how much more rain would fall) I removed the snow from the gh last night (instead of waiting for it to freeze up this morning and then pulling it off after it'd provided an insulating blanket through the night).
