left the pump on today (which will probably suck the water tank temp down substantially) -- this is what happens after the last two "seemingly cloudy" days that turned out not to be after me preemptively turning off the pump -- the real answer is obviously some sort of sensor controlling the pump -- this only caused a 2 degree drop in the water tank temp during the day though, so not as bad as i'd thought -- also, the high gh temp may be a complete farce (as the sky never lightened up in GB, and i suspect not here either) simply because i might have forgotten to reset the thermometer last night when i read it
