rain began overnight, changed to sleet at dawn (enough to make the ground white) then back to rain and midafternoon back towards sleet again -- delayed the pump start until noon or so (which probably only served to decrease the heat loss in the water tank, as the pump ran only in the afternoon instead of all nay -- completely overcast the whole day long, no breaks of sun at all
