just a few minutes ago (11:30 or so), as i was sweeping the wet snow off of the gh, there was a momentary period (less than 30 seconds) where the sun was strong enough to throw a clear shadow (and as I look out the window, it's happening briefly again) --- this wouldn't be noteworthy except for the fact that this is only the 2nd or 3rd time in more than a week that I've actually seen any direct sun -- looks like there's a bit of blue sky and fluffy clouds to the west, so if a high pressure area comes through that may change -- it'd sure be nice if that could happen sooner rather than later (so that some direct sun and the associated solar heating can occur in advance of plummeting temps) -- water pump not turned on until after 11:00AM --- sun came out for a few hours in the afternoon -- was nice (30F) and sunny at 4:00PM, then within half an hour, it was incredibly windy and the snow squalls moved through -- we got another inch or so of snow, and by 5:30 the temp had dropped to 19F.
